Scott Golin is a Principal in the Law Firm Consulting Practice of Hoffman Alvary.  He has spent more than ten years at the firm working with regional and national law firms on financial, strategic and management consulting engagements. These projects include:

  • Developing earnings improvement strategies;
  • Assessing strategic growth opportunities;
  • Creating client analysis initiatives;
  • Crafting and facilitating partner retreats;
  • Assisting with the merger and acquisition process;
  • Reviewing partner compensation systems;
  • Developing management reporting packages;
  • Assessing partner capital structures; and
  • Developing custom benchmarking studies.

Mr. Golin is responsible for the Hoffman Alvary Survey on Law Firm Economics. The Hoffman Alvary Survey is an annual survey of the strategic positioning and financial performance of selected law firms that now includes over 75 firms in more than a dozen major markets in the United States.

Mr. Golin speaks regularly to organizations interested in trends within the legal profession including the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) and the Legal Marketing Association (LMA).

Prior to joining Hoffman Alvary, Mr. Golin spent five years focused on strategic initiatives at a multi-office AmLaw 100 law firm based in Washington, DC. His work included analyzing mergers and acquisitions for the firm, constructing profitability models and assisting firm management in the areas of forecasting, partner compensation, practice management and financial reporting.
